Abstract

|
Stroke is a heterogeneous, multifactorial disease regulated by various modifiable and nonmodifiable risk factors. Theoretically almost 80% of stroke events could be reduced by making simple lifestyle modifications. In 2008, a lot of studies potentially in-fluencing the primary prevention of stroke had been reported. This review discusses recently completed studies that have the potential to impact clinical practice. The topics discussed include hypertension, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia and statin therapy.
